A whitewater retreat to the Penobscot River with the East Grand middle school students. Students hiked to Blue Berry Ledges and took part in whitewater canoeing and rafting. Canoe the Wild oversaw the whitewater canoeing. Elbridge Cleaves, Scott and Wayne Daggett provided river safety and canoe retrieval at the Big Eddy. Five veteran Outdoor Ed students took on leadership roles assisting Tammi Matula & Jill Plummer with planning, cooking and serving meals, setting up and taking down camp and cleanup. Sam Plummer who graduated from East Grand School in 2017 shared with the students his experience in high school and the benefits of getting out of your comfort zone for growth and opportunity. Many parents and others assisted with the retreat as well.
