CASCAPEDIA RIVER, QUEBEC, 5 days with travel
The Cascapedia is a great river trip for those looking for a shorter and easier whitewater canoeing trip then the Bonaventure. Beginning south of the Chic Choc Mountains and west of the Bonaventure, we spend the next four days paddling lively and fun, but not too intimidating whitewater including numerous class I and II rapids. Approximate distance by canoe is 50 miles, available in June.
Day 1: Meet in Houlton, Maine in the morning, travel together to New Richmond, overnight in a motel
Day 2: Drive to the headwaters and launch by noontime
Day 2-5: Paddling and camping on the Cacapedia River, taking out mid morning of day 5
Day 5: Arrive back in Houlton, Maine early evening
Cost Per Person: $1250.00 includes first night’s motel in New Richmond, all equipment and meals on the river.
Note: For those flying, choose Bangor or Presque Isle. When choosing Presque Isle, we can meet in Presque Isle the next morning then drive up from there. Options for flying into Canada include arriving in Bathurst, N.B., rent a car and meeting up with us in New Richmond, approximately a 2 hour drive.
Testimonial
“A reunion of members from the class of 1964 at Amherst College plus family and friends on the Bonaventure and Cascapedia. At age 74 this trip was on my bucket list. It met all my expectations for beauty, excitement and chance for reconnecting with friends. Dave Conley provided expert advice, teaching, excellent food and supplies as well as sharing Maine stories. I would recommend it for anyone”. Mason Appleton, MA
